IRVINE — November 2, 2026. Irvine residents can use most public facilities at Turtle Rock Community Park without a paid booking for ordinary recreation, while the nearby southern Open Space Preserve is subject to different access restrictions.
A park for daily use
Turtle Rock Community Park at 1 Sunnyhill offers lighted tennis courts, volleyball, youth sports space, playgrounds and walking paths. The city describes standard facility hours of 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday–Saturday and noon–6 p.m. Sunday.
When an event requires a reservation
Irvine says drop-in picnics are limited to groups of fewer than 50. Community rooms and some facilities require advance reservation; the city’s Facility Reservations phone is 949-724-6620.
A different rule beyond the park
The City of Irvine’s southern Open Space Preserve protects fragile natural habitats. The municipality says public entry is permitted through guided hikes and activities, rather than unrestricted independent access. Check the current preserve registration list before heading to a trailhead.
